The transformation of a frame.....
We are just getting started in the process of
painting this frame to match
an original hand painted frame for companion pieces.
We began by tinting the frame down
to the same tone as the original.
As you can see....
the frame is now matching the original frame
our customer brought in, and is ready to install these wonderful old family treasured photo's.

Alzheimer's
Last week I had the opportunity to donate some materials and framing to the Alzheimer's foundation for an Auction that is being held this weekend. I really enjoyed designing and framing these little pieces, and reading the notes that were written on the back of each piece.
It reminded me of walking in to pick up my mother at day care, and seeing all the works of art created by all the students. Mom often brought home little projects she had worked on throughout her day. They all had a child like element to them, much like all of these. (But at the same time, absolutely wonderful pieces of art).

"Rich Bouquet"
"On the Beach"
"Renovation"
"That's an Irish Lullaby"
Well first of all I love them all.
And my favorites have more to do with my own mother, than being partial to the art, framing or just liking the comments.
My mother did two things that really stand out in my mind when she became ill with this disease.
She loved to sing and she lost her words.
I would often go and pick her up and they would tell me she sang for everyone that day.
So it won't take long for you to figure out that I like this last one: "That's an Irish Lullaby"
I also like "Rich Bouquet" because the artist had nothing to say.
We lost mom in July of 2011
I think of her often and miss her very much.
This disease stole her from us, long before she passed.
It stole her self dignity, her confidence, her personality, and her life.
But even in all of that I have very fond memories of her, both before she became ill, and during the process, as she became more child like. These pieces of art reflect the beauty that is inside these people.
God bless them all, their caretakers and their families.

Framing Russian Dolls (Matryoshka Doll)
A matryoshka doll also known as Russian nesting/nested doll, refers to a set of wooden dolls of decreasing size placed one inside the other. The dolls often follow a theme, aside from the typical traditional peasant girls, the themes vary.
Ever Played with these dolls as a child? Well I have gotten the chance to have fun with them once again, and wish that I would have kept my set from my childhood.
They make a great shadow box. I wonder what happened to that old set of Russian Dolls I had.

IT"S YOUR MOVE-a great idea for a game room!!
Take your favorite game and put it in a frame display-a fun idea your a game room!!
We had lots of fun with this one, actually played a few rounds to find a nice layout.
We started with the black dominos, but thought some white ones would actually play out better. So after a quick shopping trip to find white dominos, and playing a few rounds with my granddaughter, we were ready to get started.
A piece of white fillet was tinted to match the coloring of the dominos and was placed on the bottom of the wall. The perfect gold fillet to pick up the gold rivet that was in the center of each of the white dominos was used inside the frame. The dominos were laid out on a piece of black suede mat board, and a nice black frame with just the right depth was used. The project was put behind a piece of museum glass and here it is.
This is on display as part of our example wall and will be for sale to any one that might have the perfect place for it.
Another example of just how fun this can be..... As you can imagine the possibilities are endless.
